Bourgeois guitars crafted in Lewiston, Maine are pure American acoustics, constructed with an unmatched attention to detail: from wood selection to the hardware, each guitar is unique, and two guitars of the same model are given highly personalized care that grants them a distinct quality. The small team of artisans imparts a special life to these instruments, selecting compatible matches to determine the sound of each guitar based on its size and shape. They are hand-carved, and each one benefits from the involvement of Dana Bourgeois himself at many stages of production, who also performs the quality control for each piece.

This Bourgeois folk guitar from the Heirloom Series is a faithful reproduction of pre-war models, perfectly embodying the legendary Dreadnought style with a decidedly vintage soul. Far from bland replicas, it stands out with exceptional craftsmanship, down to the meticulously formulated glue used. This HS D Vintage captivates with its classy retro sound and timeless elegance. But beyond its charm, it's the rigorous construction that sets it as a benchmark.

It boasts an Adirondack spruce top, back and sides of sumptuous Indian rosewood, a Honduran mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge, all enhanced by mother-of-pearl inlays of consummate refinement. The spruce top projects a clear sound, ideal for standing out, while the rosewood imparts a warm intoxication with its generous bass and enchanting harmonics. Whether in ensemble or solo, this marvel ensures a dazzling performance.

On this model, there is a pronounced presence in the midrange with a subtle reduction in bass and treble—thus giving it a striking brilliance when played solo. Even unamplified, this guitar fills the space with remarkable fullness. Amplified, it is pure delight, perfectly controlled both in the studio and on stage. A true vintage reference!
