Gibson has forever engraved its name in the hall of fame of guitar, from jazz to rock, blues and metal. Founded in 1894 by Orville H. Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, the company has revolutionized the guitar world with technical and aesthetic innovations such as the humbuckers or the Flying V, Explorer and Firebird shapes. With ambassadors like Charlie Christian and Slash, or Tommi Iommi and, of course, Lester Polfus, Gibson crosses the ages and musical styles, and stands out as a must-have brand of guitar, both electric and acoustic.

Over the course of its history as a classic, the Gibson J-45 has had many incarnations. It is the one from the 50's that Gibson brings back on stage and in the studio, with this J-45 50's Original, in a magnificent Vintage Sunburst finish. Thanks to a sober aesthetic, superb wood types, and a very refined craftsmanship, this guitar with a short scale (24.75") and slope shoulders will please guitarists, especially those who sing, whatever their style.

The combination of Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides is proven: spruce's projection and articulation provide great volume and clarity, while mahogany absorbs higher frequencies (mahogany vibrates less at high frequencies), producing a warmth that pervades the soundfield. The neck is ultra classic, with a consistent rounded profile and a rosewood fingerboard with a 12" radius. It favors left-handed chordal playing at first, but is quickly tamed and will be comfortable even when using more elaborate playing techniques, thanks to perfectly rolled fret edges.

This Gibson J-45 50's Original is equipped with a LR Baggs VTC system, a popular choice because it is simply one of the best. It features a transducer under the saddle, which improves the coupling between the pickup and the guitar for a robust, lively and natural acoustic sound with excellent dynamics and smooth highs. Combined with a built-in preamp with a discreet, removable volume control mounted just inside the rosette, we found that it perfectly captures the nuances of playing, both in flatpicking and fingerpicking. So in short: it's beautiful, it sounds great, and it has personality.
