Gibson has forever engraved its name in the hall of fame of guitar, from jazz to rock, blues and metal. Founded in 1894 by Orville H. Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, the company has revolutionized the guitar world with technical and aesthetic innovations such as the humbuckers or the Flying V, Explorer and Firebird shapes. With ambassadors like Charlie Christian and Slash, or Tommi Iommi and, of course, Lester Polfus, Gibson crosses the ages and musical styles, and stands out as a must-have brand of guitar, both electric and acoustic.
Designed as a modern and versatile take on the classic Les Paul, the Studio Session brings together reduced weight, player comfort and an expanded tonal range. It’s built for the stage, the studio, and everything in between.
The chambered mahogany body follows the Ultra-Modern Weight Relief pattern, preserving sustain while making the instrument lighter and easier to handle. The AA figured maple top adds visual depth, enhanced by a high-gloss Translucent Ebony Burst nitro finish. The SlimTaper mahogany neck and contoured heel provide smooth upper fret access.
The Gibson ’57 Classic (neck) and ’57 Classic Plus (bridge) humbuckers deliver vintage warmth with punch and clarity. The electronics expand the tonal palette with push/pull coil taps on the volume knobs, and phase reversal and pure bypass on the tone controls — discreet but powerful options. Clean, punchy, articulate, or saturated and fat, the pickups held their own with consistency and presence.
Hardware is solid and understated: Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge and lightweight stopbar, Grover Rotomatic Keystone tuners, and black nickel plating. The bound ebony fingerboard, cream binding and trapezoid inlays complete a look that’s both sleek and classic.
