The Sigma label was created in 1970 by C.F. Martin & Co. to counter Japanese imitations. Initially made in Japan at an affordable price, these guitars adhered to strict standards due to the collaboration between Martin and the subcontractor. Today, the brand is owned by A.M.I., based in Munich, which distributes these famous American guitars in Europe. The specifications remain rigorous, but production has now shifted to China to maintain a good quality-price ratio. Thus, Sigma represents a recommended choice for enthusiasts on a budget. All models are delivered with a padded Cordura gig-bag, equipped with straps.
This special Swiss edition of the Sigma OMMCE-BKB is a nice OM cutaway model offering a classic aesthetic and great playability, perfectly suited for fingerstyle playing and delicate melodies. The choice of mahogany, known for its rich and warm tones, for the top, back, and sides adds a certain mellowness to the sound profile of this guitar, making it particularly suitable for blues and folk.
The finish of the OMMCE-BKB Sigma is a distressed satin, giving it a well-worn, vintage look that we find very appealing. This finish not only enhances its visual appeal but also contributes to the overall resonance and tonal quality of the guitar. For amplification, it comes equipped with a Sigma Preamp.
