The Sigma label was established in 1970 by the C.F. Martin & Co. to compeat with the invasion of more or les coherent Japanese copies of their own models on the world market. These first affordable Martin were ironically made in Japan but with exact specs and synergy that worked between the big guys and their subcontractor. The brand now belongs to A.M.I. (Acoustic Musical instruments, Munich), which incidentally is the European distributor of the famous American guitars. The specifications remain uncompromised, but in order to raise the best quality-price ratio, the subcontractor is now Chinese. It remains that for the amateur with a limited budget, the choice of a Sigma is highly recommended. All models come with a Cordura padded gig-bag, with back-pack carrying straps.
The GWCE-2-BKW is a modern and versatile Grand OM acoustic ready for both stage and home playing. The cutaway allows easy access to the upper frets, while the OM format keeps a great balance between comfort, precision and projection.
The solid Sitka spruce top provides clarity, attack and dynamic response. Laminated walnut back and sides add warmth and a rich midrange, with controlled lows and clear highs. The mahogany neck features a modern, comfortable profile that feels easy in the hand. The result is a well-balanced guitar that works equally well for fingerstyle or rhythmic accompaniment.
Electronics are handled by the Fishman Presys II system with onboard tuner, volume and tone controls. Plugged in, it delivers a natural and reliable signal suited for acoustic amps, PA systems or recording interfaces.
