Founded in the mid-1970s, Schecter initially established itself as a manufacturer of aftermarket guitar parts, specializing in Fender components. Building on its success, the company began producing high-performance guitars, particularly Custom models for players such as Mark Knopfler and Pete Townshend, and later Keith Merrow and Michael Anthony. After a period under the ownership of the founder of GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology), Schecter is now under Japanese management. For over 20 years, the brand has developed its expertise and attention to detail in building modern-style guitars across two segments: a USA-made Custom Shop range aimed at professional musicians, and an Asian-made range whose designs and build quality have won over a growing number of guitarists across all styles.
The Schecter Solo-II Standard Blood Burst is a rock, hard rock and metal guitar, and there is no point pretending otherwise. Mahogany body, figured maple top, short scale length, 14" fingerboard radius and 22 jumbo frets: this is a guitar that takes the Les Paul concept in a more aggressive direction while retaining its familiar playing feel and tonal character.
The bolt-on roasted maple neck, chosen for improved stability, features a comfortable, relatively slim Thin C profile. The rosewood fingerboard makes bends, vibrato and fast passages easy to execute. The two passive Schecter Diamond Standard humbuckers deliver a thick, articulate sound with good definition even under heavy distortion. The bridge pickup emphasizes attack and precision for riffs, while the neck pickup offers a rounder response for solos and clean tones. The mids are prominent, the lows substantial, and the attack remains clearly defined.
