Best known for attracting shredders and metal players with its ultra-flat necks, floating tremolos and seven-, eight- and nine-string (!) guitars, Ibanez has established itself as THE Japanese guitar export brand. Founded in 1957 in Nagoya, Japan, Ibanez began by producing copies of American Fender, Gibson and Rickenbacker models before developing its own designs. But it was in the 1980s that the brand firmly secured its place in rock and metal, signing virtuosos such as Joe Satriani and Steve Vai and establishing itself as the benchmark for superstrats.
The AZ22S1F offers a versatile setup at an accessible price, with an alder body and flamed maple top beneath a Transparent Black Sunburst finish. The roasted maple neck, jatoba fingerboard and 22 jumbo stainless steel frets make for an elegant, durable instrument. The Super All Access neck joint provides excellent access to the upper frets.
Classic Custom pickups pair two single coils for clean tones and articulate rhythm playing with a bridge humbucker for fuller driven sounds. The dyna-MIX9 system and Alter mini-switch offer nine combinations, including the neck and middle pickups wired in series for a thicker sound. A T106 tremolo and locking tuners complete this highly versatile, well-built guitar, suited to blues, pop and rock.
