Gibson has forever engraved its name in the hall of fame of guitar, from jazz to rock, blues and metal. Founded in 1894 by Orville H. Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, the company has revolutionized the guitar world with technical and aesthetic innovations such as the humbuckers or the Flying V, Explorer and Firebird shapes. With ambassadors like Charlie Christian and Slash, or Tommi Iommi and, of course, Lester Polfus, Gibson crosses the ages and musical styles, and stands out as a must-have brand of guitar, both electric and acoustic.
An iconic model from Gibson’s vintage era, the ES-330 Sixties Cherry is a lightweight, responsive, and expressive hollow-body guitar. Built without a center block, it relies on its fully hollow body to deliver a naturally resonant, woody tone with excellent acoustic projection.
The laminated maple/poplar/maple body is wide, thin, and shallow, enhancing both playing comfort and tonal clarity. The mahogany neck, joined at the 16th fret, ensures smooth access to the upper register while maintaining a solid, balanced feel. The Indian rosewood fingerboard features a 12" radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, and dot inlays for clear visibility and clean articulation.
Equipped with a pair of Dogear P-90 pickups, this guitar delivers fast response, a broad tonal spectrum, and sharp attack. The 3-way switch and classic 2-volume/2-tone setup, paired with 500k pots and Orange Drop or Bumblebee capacitors, provide a wide tonal range—from warm jazz to gritty vintage rock. We tested it through a Princeton, Tweed, JTM45, and a Dumble-style Magnatone, and it consistently produced a vibrant, rich, and studio-ready sound.
