This module is an official and deliberate transposition of the Marshall JMP world into the Synergy ecosystem. Developed in collaboration with Marshall, it aims to reproduce the original behaviour, and succeeds: firm attack, aggressive mids, lively grain, and that distinctive feel of a Plexi pushed to its limits. The goal is straightforward: capture the DNA of late-60s and 70s JMPs in a format that is controllable and fully usable in both studio and live environments.
What sets the Synergy JMP apart is its design. Beyond a standard preamp, it incorporates a real phase inverter circuit and a miniature transformer, forming a so-called "0-watt power amp" section. This approach recreates the compression, slight sag, and dynamic response of a Marshall power stage without producing excessive volume. The result is immediate under the fingers: more depth, more movement, and a feel far closer to a real amplifier than a conventional preamp.
The two identical channels follow the spirit of the original Plexi layout, with Bright and Normal volumes that can be blended to shape the gain structure. Each channel features its own EQ, master volume, a 60s/70s switch to move from a rounder, wider JMP voice to a tighter, more aggressive version, and Bright controls to fine-tune attack and bite. From edgy cleans to classic crunch and thick, articulate rock drive, the module covers a wide range while staying true to the Marshall aesthetic.
