Here is a pure L-series Stratocaster from early 1965, entirely original (except the vibrato arm), in exceptional condition (excellent condition +++). It features a maple neck with a Brazilian rosewood round-lam fingerboard, a transition logo, Kluson tuners, intact soldering, factory finish, and a pre-CBS wiring with 3 positions selector. The body shows only very light wear, some scratches, small dings and play marks, which is rare for an instrument of this era.

Apart from the pedigree, which makes all the difference for the collector of vintage instruments, this is still music: so does the sound live up to the expectations that one has the right to nurture, considering the date of birth? Spoiler-alert: oh yes!

Close your eyes, clear your mind. Now let the sound of the truest Stratocaster come to you. Well, this one sounds like that, in real life. With the bridge pickup, the harmonics are flowing. The intermediary positions (which can be obtained with a little dexterity and practice) are dazzling, very articulate, clear, with that characteristic midrange scoop. With the neck pickup, you get a roundness and brilliance that envelops like the sound of a piano. The overall tonal balance is impeccable, which is very rare on a Stratocaster. The tone is incomparable, as it is both full and punchy.

The playing comfort is just enormous, since the 65 neck is so perfect. The ultra-comfortable C-profile grows and flattens for an ergonomic shift from chords to note by note phrases, and it's a delight. The weight of this guitar is in line with the models of the time, a bit less than its cousins, showing the ultimate in woodwind resonance.

In the end, this vintage guitar has been played relatively little. The frets are still original. Delivered with its original case in perfect condition, this is truly an exceptional instrument for the collector, and above all for the musician eager to move the crowd with a single note.
