The Moeck company owns a famous collection of Renaissance original recorders, that are all well kept and perfectly playable. Their production Consort - which is one of the best available on today's market - was modelled from those originals. Although Renaissance recorders are made of one piece, Moeck has decided to supply two or three parts copies, depending on each instrument register. The headjoint to body link is protected by a brass ring.

The fingering of the Renaissance recorder is somewhat different from baroque instruments. Although Moeck offers both options,  we do recommend to go for the original fingering. Moreover, the Consort can be tuned  to mean-tone temperament which, when using original Renaissance fingering will improve ensemble playing and intonation of pure major thirds. The instruments have a range of an octave plus a sixth.

Although the Renaissance most widespread pitch is 460Hz, Moeck has decided to tune their own Consort instruments to 440Hz, which can be slightly adjusted by sliding the short metal ring that links the tenons. When tuning the Consort, the maker takes great attention that each recorder blends into the ensemble and is not singled out by tone or volume.

We propose it with a two year warranty from our workshop.
