XGibson has forever inscribed his name in the guitar's pantheon, from jazz to rock, blues to metal. Created in 1894 by Orville H. Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, the company revolutionized the guitar world with innovations such as the humbuckers or the Flying V, Explorer, and Firebird shapes. With ambassadors ranging from Charlie Christian to Slash, through Tommi Iommi and, of course, Lester Polfus, Gibson has traveled through the ages and musical styles and has established itself as a leading brand of electric and acoustic guitar.
M2M (Made To Measure) is the pinnacle of the custom guitar. This Custom Shop range allows you to create a guitar built to the specifications you want and select all the components (wood, electronics, etc.) and the finish.
We have selected this Les Paul Standard '59, which is a real gem. This faithful reproduction of the historical instrument has all the features that have made the model a legend in the blues/rock/hard-rock world over the past 60 years. The mahogany body is made of one piece with a tight grain, and so well dried that it almost vibrates when you look at it. The AAA flamed maple top is beautiful, and the bookmatching is perfect. As for the Western Desert Fade finish, it's just to die for.
The playing comfort, as well as the elegance of this guitar, are absolutely fantastic. The mahogany neck is shaped in "authentic medium '59", making it very pleasant to hold. It opens the way to rhythmic inversions with great ease. When it comes to soloing, one could compare the feeling of driving a Bentley—or to be more exact, what we imagine driving a Bentley to be: racing performance, luxurious lounge comfort.
The rosewood fingerboard and mahogany neck glued to the body with long tenon provide impressive roundness and sustain. Custombuckers are very responsive, with full but never fat bass, intense and punchy mids, and piercing but never strident highs. All the details that made the original a legend are skillfully reproduced to offer an absolutely convincing vintage playing experience. Except here, it's brand new.
