Founded in 1985 in Stevensville, Maryland, USA, PRS Guitars (named after its founder, luthier Paul Reed Smith), immediately took up the challenge of designing and producing guitars that meet the challenge of offering instruments with uncompromising sound versatility, exceptional playing comfort, and the highest level of beauty and craftsmanship. With models like the McCarty and the Custom 24, PRS Guitars has made a sensational debut in the world of guitar, dominating today by marrying the qualities of the Stratocaster (vibrato, crystal clear sound, soft bass, comfort of the game) and the Les Paul (creamy crunch, mediums affirmed, endless sustain and luxurious finishes), adding a character of its own.
It's a bit superficial, but that guitar is beautiful. Her extraordinary charisma catches the eye immediatly. This McCarty SC 594 model features a 10Top table with a very "appetizing" McCarty Sunburst satin finish. The maple top is finely figured, and the honey-sweetness of the lacquer is intense. The (ultra-high grade) mahogany body and neck give it a little spice, that makes this guitar seems both distinguished and rebellious.
The very characteristic specs clearly indicate what we're gong for: mahogany body and neck, two spiltable humbuckers (58/15 LT), a three-way selector switch, and a fixed bridge... Rock, jazz, blues, pop, funk, country: it covers all genres and it is reliable. And since it's Paul Reed Smith, it's also precise and comfortable. The body has discreet, perfectly placed contours. The neck is easy to grasp, and so soft that any touch can express itself fully.
The electronics are impeccable, and also damn efficient. The pots (2 volumes, 2 push-pull tones for splitting the pickups) control a pair of highly articulated 58/15 LTs with a sharp tone and virile presence. They also open up an almost infinite sound palette, which makes this jewel a perfect working tool. But above all, this is an instrument of expression: from the stage to the studio, this guitar has the talent to easily match the personality of the person playing it.
