Bourgeois guitars made in Lewiston, Maine are pure American acoustic guitars, built with unparalleled attention to detail. From the selection of woods to the hardware, each guitar is unique, and two guitars of the same model receive highly personalized attention that gives them a unique quality. The small team of craftsmen provides a particular life to these instruments, making compatible assortments to determine the tone of each guitar according to its size and shape. They are hand-carved, and each one benefits from the involvement of Dana Bourgeois himself at many stages of production, who carries out quality control of each piece.

Bourgeois uses a particular type of bracing made of roasted Adirondack, which allows for greater scalloping and provides better vibration of the top. On this Slope D, the Adirondack top thus reveals a wide range of mediums with a very open tone, which admirably compensates for the classic stunted nature of this guitar format.

This guitar seems dedicated to pop/folk, because of the tone it delivers, and the comfort of the neck. It is effortless to handle and allows fast movements, letting all the emotion and sensitivity of the playing show through. The carefully selected Honduran mahogany neck, back, and sides, as well as the Ziricote fingerboard and bridge, combine the best of the best in a "depreciation years" and resolutely pre-war spirit. The resulting tone is simply superlative.

It remains, however, very well adapted to other types of picking: the blues and bluegrass registers, in particular, will be perfectly well represented. This is due to the notes' articulation and the highs' assertive, yet balanced, presence.
