Bourgeois guitars made in Lewiston, Maine are pure American acoustic guitars, built with unparalleled attention to detail. From the selection of woods to the hardware, each guitar is unique, and two guitars of the same model receive highly personalized attention that gives them a unique quality. The small team of craftsmen provides a particular life to these instruments, making compatible assortments to determine the tone of each guitar according to its size and shape. They are hand-carved, and each one benefits from the involvement of Dana Bourgeois himself at many stages of production, who carries out quality control of each piece.
This Vintage OM first impresses with its beautifully aged Sitka Aged Top Bearclaw. However, the dark hue does not bode well for the sound, which is very bright and projects itself with great depth into space.
The woods combination (Indian rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge) is "delicious" for lack of another term. It gives this guitar a cohesion that can be felt in the playing and in the tone. The satin finish of the neck allows the hand to slide perfectly, and its profile is clearly designed to facilitate movement.
In terms of construction, the torrefied bracing ensures stability improved by the woods' aging (which have been dried for a very long time). This promises an instrument capable of following the progress and career of the musician who will play it throughout his or her life, improving even more with time.
