We have met George Lowden about forty years ago and feel privileged to have become his friends and his oldest retailer still in activity. Established in the Belfast area, in Northern Ireland, George has in the mid seventies revolutionized the folk fingerstyle guitar by launching a steel-strings design with projection and dynamics usually featured on a top professional classical concert instrument, with incredible sustain and volume as a bonus track! Right at the opposite of compressed American siblings of that era that performed at their best when heavily flat-picked. Lowden has immediately gathered up talented followers and continues ever since. The all natural global woody aspect, the wood bindings instead of plastic, the satin finish, the twin saddle bridge were innovative features that have been copied many a time without capturing the magical sound of the original design.
This F35 MR/AS is for the serious player who can appreciate a whole new world of subtle tone colors and dynamic range. A substantial evolution from the original mid-seventies design. This Guatemalan model has stunning looks combined with a clear and warm tones. It has a three dimensional quality and a complex tone as well. Almost any playing style will be comfortable with this model. Combined with the definition of the Alpine spruce sound board, there is extra quality and class in the tone. It is crystal clear yet deep, very resonant, has lots of overtones, great dynamics, phenomenal sustain and a huge presence. What else can we say about this exceptional guitar? The longer you will own it, the more you will love it for its slightly understated beauty, its subtle use of figured beautiful woods, not to mention its superb tonal definition and separation.
