Founded in 1985 in Stevensville, Maryland, USA, PRS Guitars (named after its founder, luthier Paul Reed Smith), took up the daring challenge of designing and producing guitars that meet the challenge of offering instruments with uncompromising sonic versatility, exceptional playing comfort, and beauty and craftsmanship of the highest level. With models such as the McCarthy and Custom 24, PRS Guitars has made a stunning entry into the world of guitar building, which it now dominates by combining the qualities of the Stratocaster (vibrato, crystal-clear sound, mellow basses, playing comfort) and the Les Paul (creamy crunch, assertive mids, endless sustain and luxurious finishes), adding a character all of its own.
The original PRS guitar, that revealed the luthier's know-how to the world. It elegantly combines the elements of a vintage instrument with a decidedly modern design, in a Wood Library limited edition.
The mahogany body, mounted with a quilted maple top, and the mahogany set neck with a rosewood fingerboard, all carefully selected and finely assembled, offer a resonance that left us speechless. In the hands, this beauty offers breathtaking playing comfort.
Tone-wise, the pair of humbuckers gives its happy owner the whole range of electric guitar tones: clean tones that are round and enveloping or full of brillance, creamy or piercing crunches, and high gain saturations are all accessible through the 58/15 LT pickups. At ease in all registers, this guitar leaves nothing to desire.
