For many enthusiasts, C.F. Martin & Co. has been creating the most beautiful guitars in the world for over 180 years. The company has innovated by using manufacturing techniques and features that have become standards, including the X-bracing, the fourteenth fret body/ neck joint and the Dreadnought format. Faithful to the founder's approach, the company continues to employ artisanal processes and a highly skilled workforce. In light of his ever expanding reputation and fan base, Martin collaborated  with pop star John Mayer on the creation of a second namesake guitar, one with many attributes as his first OM-28JM Limited Edition, but one that would be more affordable and more widely available in the tradition of the poupular Eric Clapton model. This tasteful special edition exhibits versatitility for today's diverse contemporary musical styles.

The OMJM distinguishes itself with a solid Engelmann spruce, scallopped solid Sitka spruce top braces, and back and sides made from solid East Indian rosewood. The tonal character resulting from this combination is one-of-a-kind: extremely warm in the lows and low-mids,with a perfectly balanced sparkle in the high range.It is rich in overtones, extremely responsive and subtle in the touch. This custom uniquely low profiled contoured neck is carved from Spanish cedar. The 1-11/16" (43mm) width and contoured shape make for a guitar that frets fast and almost effortlessly. John Mayer's signature is inlaid in mother-of-pearl between the 19th and 20th frets. The OMJM's African ebony bridge is fitted with a compensated TUSQ (which is an advanced polymer formed under high pressure to optimize  string transfer energy and enhance harmonics, volume and sustain) saddle, under which is mounted the factory-installed Martin Gold Plus Natural pick-up system. This under-saddle transducer is connceted to an end-pin miniaturized preamp that allows to plug the guitar right in and get a great natural sound immediately (thru dedicated combo amplifiers, PA or recording consoles, computer interfaces, etc.). This Martin is made to be taken out and played.
