Gibson has forever engraved its name in the hall of fame of guitar, from jazz to rock, blues and metal. Founded in 1894 by Orville H. Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, the company has revolutionized the guitar world with technical and aesthetic innovations such as the humbuckers or the Flying V, Explorer and Firebird shapes. With ambassadors like Charlie Christian and Slash, or Tommi Iommi and, of course, Lester Polfus, Gibson crosses the ages and musical styles, and stands out as a must-have brand of guitar, both electric and acoustic.

So many album covers feature this guitar that it is often one of the most recognized Americana folk guitars. While its instantly recognizable look won't make you a performer, it will still steal the show with its Cherry Sunburst finish and hummingbird pickguard. Our model also has a varnish that produces a rather matte effect, even under light, highlighting the table in a unique way with brown highlights.

The Hummingbird's size is relatively large, which allows it to sound very loud. The mahogany shape and construction enhances the warmth of the sound, holding back some of the high frequencies, and the spruce top provides a vibrant, open projection. The spruce top is heat-aged to ensure both great wood stability and a vibration quality that is a cut above the rest, as evidenced immediately by the first chord that is allowed to sound. The mahogany back and sides are of course made of high quality parts, and the strong and warm sound the guitar emits is a perfect match for every tone, from the most intimate to the most voluminous.

The Rounded profile fills the hand and offers great playing comfort, especially on the upper neck. The lower part of the neck is a bit more delicate and will require virtuosity, as is often the case on folk guitars. The nitrocellulose varnish promises a natural and graceful ageing, in exchange of a lesser resistance to knocks, but here again, it is the lot of acoustic guitars. If you want a typical US folk guitar that is elegant and easy to play, the Gibson CS Hummingbird Heritage is simply the best option.
