George Lowden has been a friend for almost forty years, and we are the oldest active dealer for the company. Based out of Belfast, Northern Ireland, he revolutionized the world of folk guitar in the 1970s with a furiously innovative concept: a metal-stringed guitar with a projection comparable to the best concert classical, with incredible power and sustain. The exact opposite of the American guitars of the time, whose compression required a more virile playing at the mediator to reach their full potential. Lowden's guitars were an immediate success and have since continued to attract guitarists looking for sound, and aesthetic qualities found nowhere else in the world.
The F-34 Koa is Lowden's newest offering and is part of their Original Series, basically a revitalization of the core models that put Lowden firmly on the acoustic guitar map in the early 1980's! The pairing of Sitka spruce and figured Hawaiian koa in their popular F body offers the modern player a sweet and balanced tone perfectly suited for the Celtic strummer as well as the nuanced fingerstylist.
