Gibson has forever engraved its name in the hall of fame of guitar, from jazz to rock, blues and metal. Founded in 1894 by Orville H. Gibson in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, the company has revolutionized the guitar world with technical and aesthetic innovations such as the humbuckers or the Flying V, Explorer and Firebird shapes. With ambassadors like Charlie Christian and Slash, or Tommi Iommi and, of course, Lester Polfus, Gibson crosses the ages and musical styles, and stands out as a must-have brand of guitar, both electric and acoustic.

An undisputed rock icon, the 1964 SG Standard has been seen in the hands of greats like Eric Clapton and George Harrison. We present a rather special version: this masterful interpretation of the devilishly good-looking electric guitar is handcrafted by Gibson's Custom Shop luthiers with great attention to detail, premium tonewoods, and a delightful Murphy Lab-Aged finish. Under the direction of master craftsman Tom Murphy, the Gibson Custom Shop's Murphy Lab serves a specific purpose: to craft artfully aged instruments using the most modern tools available. This 1964 SG Standard Reissue shows significant age, with prominent checking, as well as numerous belt buckle marks, light wear at the bend, and at the back of the neck.

The Custom Shop Alnico III Custombucker pickups on this SG offer a classic vintage sound, and will allow you to adapt to a country or hard rock world with ease. They are hand-wired with CTS audio cone pots and Black Beauty capacitors for almost unlimited tone control.
