Especially known for attracting shredders and metalheads thanks to its ultra-thin necks, floating vibratos and 7, 8 and 9 (!) strings guitars, Ibanez has established itself as THE Japanese export brand. Founded in 1957 in Nagoya, Japan, Ibanez began by producing copies of the american brands such as Fender, Gibson and Rickenbacker, before creating its own. But it was in the 80's that the brand set itself as a staple of the rock and metal landscape, by signing virtuosos such as Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, and established itself as a reference when it comes to superstrats.
The RG is the Superstrat in all its glory: a basswood body, light and resonant, a Wizard HP neck made of maple and walnut, that's ultra fast and that does not "move", an ebony fingerboard with 24 frets, because "why not do things really well?", and the trio of DiMarzio pickups that became canonical on these guitars (two humbuckers: Air Norton and Tone Zone, and a single coil: True Velvet). WHat you get is incredible playing comfort and the whole range of desirable tonal variations: crystalline cleans, stratoid crunches in the intermediate positions, and metal, yet so versatile, distortions. The Edge Zero vibrato with ZPS3 is the cherry on top, which allows for blazing solos while keeping the tuning impeccable.
