Vigier is a French brand, founded by Patrice Vigier in 1980, specialized in the manufacture of high end electric guitars and basses. Located in Grigny, in the Essonne department, the brand has built a reputation for its rigorous manufacturing methods, partially by hand and partially with machines, like a Custom Shop would operate, with production cycles lasting between 3 to 5 months, depending on the model. The wood species like alder, maple of ash come from the French forests, rosewood from India and mahogany from Honduras. Woods are selected, and let dry naturally between 3 to 7 years in order to reach the foreseen water content for a perfect resonance. Guitar bodies are built from two pieces of wood. The fretboard is rectified to 1/100 millimeter and contains a carbon rod which avoids the use of a trussrod (90/10 system with 90% wood and 10% carbon), that initially was a source of perplexities, but has finally been well accepted and a proven and reliable technology by generations of users. Finally, Vigier relies on a number of external top end hardware and pickups suppliers for a production that reaches approx. 500 units on a yearly base.

The GV Wood Ebony is part of the GV family, introduced in 2009, as a tribute to Georges Vigier (Patrice's late father), that are subtle and explosive single cuts as well as master luthier's beauties. And this GV Wood is no exceptions to this. Its is primarily a surprisingly light instrument with an outstanding playability which is equaled only be the sound abilities. Moreover, this guitar has a sustain amongst the longest we came across, with an outstanding look. As far as comfort is concerned, while the whole GV rage is well designed, this Wood model has a sound that is yet agressive, yet mellow that can fit well rock and hard rock styles, and can even reach metal zones. Because at this level of Amber handmade pickup quality, with volume and tone, one can achieve any sound structure, which is really nice and practical. This instrument can already be considered amongst the top range of single cut killer guitars.

We propose it with a two year warranty from our workshop.
